Since I watched the interview of former FBI Director James Comey in The Late Show with Steven Colbert, I wanted to read his book: “A higher Loyalty – Truth, Lies and Leadership”.

As said during the interview, the book is focusing on how leadership can be executed and why ethical leadership is in need.

Man’s capacity for justice makes democracy possible, but man’s inclination to injustice makes democracy necessary.

-Reinhold Niebuhr (1944)

Already in the first page James Comey manage to address our challenge when it comes to one kind of leadership being executed today globally.

I allowed myself to be inspired by the wording in the book to address this challenge as:

Unfortunately, we globally see a political environment where basic facts are disputed, fundamental truth is questioned, lying is normalized, and unethical behaviour is ignored, excused or rewarded. It is a troubling trend that has touched institutions around the world – boardrooms of major companies, newsrooms, university campuses, the entertainment industry, and professional and Olympic sports.

I admire the way of describing the different challenges James Comey has been exposed to during his professional career up to the day, where Donald Trump fired the FBI Director.

Being a European citizen with a family history from the Second World War, I recommend you to visit the Memorium Nürnberger Prozesse,

A visit here will hopefully leave you with some insight and an understanding of what really matters and why we have to protect our democracy.

Focus in each scenario is on how executing ethical leadership has been under pressure and why it is crucial for our society to protect our core values.

I see a need for our future generations to be inspired to execute ethical leadership as a citizen, parent and having a position, where leadership is expected.

May this book be a source in nourishing this inspiration.

I wish you an inspirational reading.
